One of the characteristics of working as a shop assistant is that you will be constantly in the public eye. This can be a bit daunting for some people – especially if they have tattooed their employer isn’t too fond of.
If you’ve been worried that your tattoos might prevent you from landing a job at Nike, we have some good news for you. The company recently updated its policy on tattoos and it is now much more lenient than it used to be.
Under the current rules, employees are allowed to have visible tattoos as long as they are not offensive. This means that if your tattoo is something that you are 100% comfortable showing to others, then it should be fine.
And what does Nike mean by “offensive?” Well, the company says that tattoos that are “racist, discriminatory, sexist, or otherwise hateful” are not allowed. Additionally, any tattoos that are associated with gangs or illegal activity will also not be tolerated.
Of course, this policy may differ from country to country and store to store – so it’s always best to check with your local Nike store before applying for a job. After all, the final say on whether or not you can have visible tattoos lies with the store manager.
