Air Canada Tattoo Policy in 2023 (Flight Attendants, Read)

Updated on:

The job of a flight attendant is one that comes with so many perks and adventures.

There is no better way to see the world than from up in the air, and as a cabin crew, you would be able to do just that. And not only would you get to travel to amazing places, but you would also be responsible for the safety and well-being of your passengers.

What’s more, you’d be paid for it pretty nicely, too!

However, being a flight attendant is not all fun and games. It can be a very demanding job that requires long hours and early mornings. It’s also a job that has many requirements when it comes to your appearance, as you must always be well-groomed and compliant with the airline’s uniform standards.

And while the world’s stance on tattoos keeps evolving in the right direction, some professions, such as that of a flight attendant, have yet to fully embrace them. Despite a number of airlines relaxing their policies, there are still many that have a zero-tolerance tattoo policy.

Is Air Canada one of them?

If you’ve been considering joining their ranks, stick with us for a moment. In this article, we will look at the latest tattoo policy of Air Canada – to make sure you’re good to go.

Air Canada Tattoo Policy & Regulations

So you must be wondering: does Air Canada allow tattoos?

For all the inked people planning to score that job, there is some good news coming your way.

At the time of writing, Air Canada has one of the most relaxed tattoo policies in the aviation industry. But that, unfortunately, doesn’t mean your full-sleeve piece of art will be welcomed with open arms.

Up until May 2021, the airline didn’t allow any visible tattoos at all. However, an arbitrator ruled in favor of the crew that felt they were being discriminated against because of their body art. Since the ruling, cabin crew members are allowed to work with visible but discreet tattoos, as well as additional piercings, while on duty.

Of course, there are some exceptions to the rule. Air Canada’s policy on visible tattoos is pretty simple and straightforward – they must be confined to a small area and can’t be on the head or neck and under no circumstances can be offensive in any way (eg. painting nudity, violence, racism, etc.).
